          Although there are artists who work with themes or issues that are very disturbing for others, I find that the experience and flow of thoughts that come from them is important to understand. Of course, I would never force or expose anyone to undergo such themes or issues, such as those present in Thelma Jiménez-Anglada’s work. Out of respect, I will avoid going into detail to avoid disturbing or offending anyone.           The topic that Jiménez-Anglada’s work touches on is one  I’ve been exposed to previously. I’ve researched a few articles and locations along the border, heard descriptions through close connections, observed photographs, and through other means have been exposed to this.           With how things were unfolding for the short film, I’ve decided to work on creating inkjet prints from digital photographs. This came about due to my interests aligning back to photography rather than exploring creating short films. The idea is similar, focusing on this connection between the body and medication. I took a few photographs using long exposure; shutter speed set at 4-6 seconds, ISO set to 100, and the aperture set at f5.6-f8.            These reflect the side effects I have recently been experiencing from my medication that have become worse. There are effects such as dizziness, nausea, and exhaustion. In addition, it has become difficult to distinguish experiences from my dreams and reality. This reminded me of that first section that was assigned from Simulations in which phases of the image is discussed.           Working with fine art comes characteristics that make the work "aesthetically pleasing" and are "high art" or "significant art." The idea of fine art was one of few that stuck to me during the talk as Andrew Norris mentioned that while working on some "fine art" pieces, his professor would become frustrated due to the "uniqueness" of his work that his professor might not have seen as fine art. I found this fascinating, the confliction of ideas in what is considered "fine art" and what isn’t. The work he displayed during the talk is his honest work. It is influenced by photographs taken by photographer’s and classic landscape paintings, but it is his own ideas, honesty, and self reflected onto paintings. Most of his influence also taken from post-graduation and his own struggles that followed.       From my last progress update, I’ve made further progress in understanding and working with Adobe Premiere. I managed to create the first scenes of the short video for the project. However, I am struggling to see this project as a video and I am not sure if it is working well. This could be as I work with photography more than film, and it is my first time working with film. Nonetheless, the video is below. (Volume Warning - it should be adjusted properly)     In Baudrillard’s ideas of ethnology and difference, my project reflects these ideas through the connection others man have of my work but with different experiences. Some cultures man have access to medicine or specialists they can pay a visit to for their health concerns, but there are some who don't have access to it. Such ideas man not be necessarily visually addressed in the video. However, I believe the ideas are vaguely present in the video.

    My most recent progress was just to record a few scenes and put them together using Adobe Premiere. I’ve never used it before and I was just getting an understanding of it. I created a few scenes using my smartphone, finding myself focusing lighting as what is available to me is limited to indoor lighting and also focusing on the sound of the surrounding area. It proves to be difficult without the proper equipment, especially a microphone, but I believe I can work around this with the help of my Nikon Z6.      Curretly, I am working on piecing together a short video, or a few inkjet prints, based around the theme 'Medication and the Body' for the FIST340 course.       The idea behind this project stemmed from my history with medication and current struggles with it. I have been through a few surgeries for which I have needed to take prescribed medication from doctors. Such medication had major side effects and those have persisted for the past two years. Still on medication, it is tought for me to go about a normal day. These thoughts are based on a few other themes: the self, exhaustion, struggles, and lack of control. With this being the influence of this project, I want to create a short video with clips that demonstrate a few of my thoughts, or take these thoughts and create photographs of them.
